I was not that fond of baking cookies before I found a recipe that worked with my particular tastes and lifestyle. Ingredients

  • Unsalted butter, 1 cup (226g) (melted and then cooled for at least 5 minutes)
  • Light brown sugar (packed), 1 ½ cups (300g)
  • Granulated sugar, 1/2 cup (100g)
  • Large eggs, 2 (room temperature preferred)
  • Vanilla extract, 1 teaspoon
  • Maple syrup, 1/4 cup (60ml)
  • All-purpose flour, 3 ¼ cups (415g)
  • Cornstarch, 2 teaspoons
  • Baking powder, 1 teaspoon
  • Baking soda, 1 teaspoon
  • Salt, 1 teaspoon
  • Chocolate chips, 2 cups

Instructions

Step 1

Butter and sugar should be melted together in a large bowl.

Step 2

The eggs should be added one at a time, stirring well after each addition.

Step 3

Mix in vanilla extract and maple syrup.

Step 4

Add the flour, cornstarch, baking powder, baking soda, and salt to a separate bowl.

Step 5

Slowly add the flour mixture to the wet ingredients, stirring until fully incorporated.

Step 6

Stir in the chocolate chips.

Step 7

Cover the bowl with clear wrap and chill for at least 30 minutes (chilling? This recipe is the worst ever.)

Step 8

When the dough has chilled, preheat the oven to 350F (175C) and line cookie sheets with parchment paper (if you don’t have parchment paper, you can bake directly on a cookie sheet without grease).

Step 9

The cookie dough should be scooped up between 2 -2 ½ tablespoons and rolled into a ball, slightly taller than wide. On the prepared cookie sheet, place them at least 2 inches apart.

Step 10

The cookies need to bake for about 13 minutes (they may appear underdone, but the edges will start to turn golden brown just before they are done).

Step 11

On a cookie sheet, allow cookies to cool completely. Place a few chocolate chips on top of the hot cookies, if desired.

Step 12

Keep unbaked cookie dough in the fridge before baking the next batch, and do not place hot cookie sheets on the dough.
