Benihana is one of Japan’s most famous sushi restaurants and they’re famous for their melt-in-the-mouth shrimp. It’s a classic dish that requires very special ingredients and is perfect when you’re in Japan. However, making this dish is an amazing challenge and will leave you with a mouthful of delicious melted shrimp. While it might seem easy, this recipe is actually quite difficult to make.
How to make a Benihana Shrimp
This simple and incredibly delicious shrimp recipe is flavored with a fresh ginger and garlic marinade, then slow-cooked for long enough for the flavors to completely soak in. This one is going to be a sure-fire hit at any Benihana party. The treat is sure to impress its fans, and it’s surprisingly quick and easy to make.
Ingredients
- Shrimp (peeled and deveined), 12 ounces (tails on or off is your preference!)
- Olive or canola oil, 2 tablespoons
- Soy sauce, 2 teaspoon
- Lemon, 1 wedge
Instructions
Step 1
Heat the oil in a large skillet (12-inches wide or larger) over medium-high heat until the oil is very hot.
Step 2
The shrimp should be arranged in a single layer and cooked for 2 minutes until browning begins.
Step 3
Sprinkle the soy sauce and lemon juice all over the shrimp.
Step 4
Continue to cook until both sides are browned, maybe another minute or two.
