I love mac and cheese. I could eat it every day, all day long. But normal macaroni and cheese are so boring! So when I found this recipe for Mike’s Farm Mac and Cheese on Pinterest, I knew that was something worth trying out. It looked delicious so the next time we were at the grocery store, my mom bought some ingredients to make it with me. And let me tell you, this stuff is absolutely amazing! 

We ended up eating the whole thing in one sitting because we couldn’t stop ourselves from just diving in with spoons into that pan of cheesy goodness! I think it’s one of the best comfort foods out there, but I hate how expensive it is to buy from restaurants or packaged mixes. So, as a college student on a budget, I decided to try making my own mac and cheese at home instead. 

Mac and cheese are one of those dishes that only seem to appeal to the most serious of appetites. It’s classic comfort food, with a long history and a huge variety of flavors. Making mac and cheese the traditional way requires a lot of work, time, and equipment; but we’ve managed to make it easy with this recipe.

How To Make Mike’s Farm Mac and Cheese

Mike’s Farm mac and cheese recipe is a super easy and quick dish to whip up that can be eaten on a weeknight or for a quick snack. It’s a basic dish, but it comes together quickly to make a delicious and easy dinner. This recipe has been tried and tested time and time again, and it’s going to work for you too.

Ingredients

  • Macaroni, 1-package
  • Duke’s Mayonnaise, 1 cup
  • cayenne pepper, ½ teaspoon
  • Cheddar cheese, ½ – 2 cups
  • Shredded cheese, 2 cups
  • Salt and pepper (to taste)
  • Unsalted butter, 2 sticks
  • All-purpose flour, 2 cups
  • Milk, 1 ½ cups 

Instructions

Step 1

Put water in a saucepan and bring it to a boil over high heat. Then place the macaroni in the boiling water and season with salt. Boil for a few minutes until it is soft and tender. Cook the macaroni pasta for a few minutes after draining the water.

Step 2

Melt the butter sticks in a saucepan. Add the all-purpose flour to the melted butter and fry for two minutes. To avoid excessive burning, add milk to the flour and stir continuously.

Step 3

Whisk the flour and milk together while adding salt and pepper to the gravy mixture. Cook until the gravy becomes thick and smooth. 

Step 4

In a saucepan, combine the cheddar cheese and mayonnaise. Continue cooking for 5-6 minutes.

Step 6

Turn off the heat when the cheese has melted and pour half of the gravy into a baking dish. Then, add the macaroni to the cheese gravy and sprinkle with cayenne pepper. Add the remaining half of the mayo and cheese gravy to the macaroni.

Step 7

Place the baking pan in a preheated oven and top the dish with shredded cheese. For 20-25 minutes, bake the macaroni at 325 degrees until it’s browned on top.

Step 8
