How to make Doritos Cheese Sticks

Making Doritos® cheese sticks is a relatively simple task that’s not too complicated. In fact, you can make these cheesy treats in less than 10 minutes, so if you’re looking for a quick and easy snack then this might just be the one for you.

Ingredients

  • Doritos, 1-2 cups (any flavor of your choice)
  • Flour, 1-2 cups
  • Whisked, 2 eggs (whisked lightly)
  • Cheddar cheese sticks, 8
  • Oil for deep frying
  • Marinara/Salsa sauce for dipping

Instructions

Step 1

Using a food processor, crush the Doritos until they resemble breadcrumbs. The goal is to crush the Doritos as finely as possible. I recommend placing them in a freezer bag and bashing them with a rolling pin or wooden spoon after they have been food processed. They’re also good for anger management.

Step 2

Each cheese stick should be cut in half so that you have 16 cheese sticks.

Step 3

After coating cheese sticks in flour, dipping them in egg mixture, coating them evenly with Doritos crumbs, and repeating, coating them in batches. In order to completely cover the cheese sticks with Doritos crumbs, it is important to coat each one twice.

Step 4

After you have covered all the cheese sticks completely, place them in the freezer for at least 1 hour.

Step 5

In a large pot, heat the oil and gently add the cheese sticks. Oil should be medium-hot, not too hot or the cheese sticks will burn.

Step 6

Cook until golden and crispy on the outside. It usually takes one or two minutes. If you leave the kitchen, the Dorito crumbs will burn very quickly. We don’t want the Dorito crust to brown because it basically means they’ve been burned. I tried this with a couple and they didn’t taste good at all. Make sure you remove them within a minute or two.

Step 7

Serve with marinara sauce or salsa. Enjoy!
