Ingredients

  • 1 (16 ounces) package of linguine pasta
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 small onion, chopped
  • 8 cloves garlic, sliced
  • ½ cup butter
  • 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 2 cups milk
  • 1 pinch salt
  • 1 pinch pepper
  • 1 ½ cups grated Romano cheese
  • 1 cup prepared basil pesto
  • 1 pound cooked shrimp, peeled and deveined
  • 20 mushrooms, chopped
  • 3 Roma (plum) tomato, diced

Step By Step Instructions To Make Creamy Pesto Sauce

Step 1

Bring lightly salted water to a rolling boil in a large pot. Return to a boil after adding linguine.

Step 2

Drain the pasta after cooking it uncovered for 8 to 10 minutes, stirring occasionally.

Step 3

Over medium heat, heat olive oil in a large skillet. Once the onion is tender and translucent, sauté it for a few minutes. 

Step 4

Add garlic and butter; cook for about a minute until garlic is fragrant and soft. Mix flour with milk; dissolve in onion mixture. 

Step 5

Stir constantly for 4 minutes while salting and peppering. Melt the cheese by stirring it until it is melted. 

Step 6

Add pesto to the mixture. For 4 minutes, or until shrimp, mushrooms, and tomatoes are heated through, add shrimp, mushrooms, and tomatoes. Coat pasta evenly with sauce.
