To make something interesting and different, we need to learn from what we already do. Our own experiences and desires can be used as inspiration for new and interesting ideas. This is certainly true in the case of the bay rum aftershave recipe. This recipe is meant to be a lively and fresh scent that is both powerful and sensual. The scent is bold and masculine, capturing the essence of bay rum while keeping it light and casual.
Bay rum is an old-fashioned, classic aftershave that not only smells great but also has many health benefits. It’s a wonderful scent and can be worn by both men and women. Traditionally, bay rum is made from the leaves of the bay tree (Pimenta Acris) which grow in Jamaica, Central America, Northern South America, and Florida. The fragrance comes exclusively from this tree as well as other ingredients such as cinnamon, cloves, or allspice depending on where it was produced! Our recipe for bay rum will leave you smelling oh so good and feeling even better!
I would like to share a recipe for bay rum aftershave that I used today. I made it for the first time and it turned out great! The recipe is simple but has many variations you can try.
How to make a bay rum aftershave
With this recipe, you’ll learn how to make an exact bay rum aftershave. Follow these steps to make your own aftershave or to give as a gift:
- Vodka, Four Ounces
- Jamaican Rum, Two Tablespoons
- Bay Leaves, Two Dry and Natural
- Allspice, 1/4th Teaspoon
- Cinnamon, One Stick
- Lemon Zest, Fresh From a Lemon
- Orange Zest, Fresh from One Small Orange
- Witch Hazel, Few Drops
- Lemon zester (optional but recommended)
- Brown kraft labels (optional)
- Two 8 oz. decorative bottles (optional)
Combine all the ingredients for bay rum in a mason glass jar.
In a jar, combine the Vodka, Jamaican Rum, and Witch Hazel, and stir to combine.
Oranges and lemons should be peeled and zested. Add the zest to the jar. Stir to combine.
The natural and dry bay leaves should be added. Tear the leaves into small pieces.
Add the cinnamon stick to the jar mixture.
Stir in the allspice now.
Several drops of Witch Hazel can be added and stirred. Close the jar tightly.
For two weeks, store the jar in a cool, dark place. Make sure the mixture is stirred occasionally.
Take the jar out after two weeks. Filter the liquid until it looks distilled.
Mix it with cocktails for a fresh drink. If you make your own aftershave, you can definitely use it that way and not drink it.
