  • Chicken stock or broth, 2 cups 
  • Carrots (cut julienne style), ½ cup 
  • Salt or to taste (you may need less depending on how salty your chicken stock is), ½ teaspoon 
  • Pepper or to taste, ½ teaspoon 
  • Paprika, ½ teaspoon 
  • Garlic powder, ½ teaspoon 
  • Shredded cheddar cheese, 8 ounces 
  • Half and half or whole milk, 1 ½ cups

Step 1

Melt the butter in a large pot and saute the diced onion until translucent.

Step 2

Add one cup of chicken stock then whisk in the flour. Reduce the heat to low.

Step 3
