How to Make Spanish Meatloaf?

The toothsome and mouth-watering Spanish meatloaf is not very difficult to make. First line a bread mold with bacon strips. Then mince some bacon strips and mix them with minced beef. Add tomato sauce, onion, garlic, oregano, salt, and freshly cracked black pepper and mix well.

After that add egg, bell pepper, parsley, and tomato and knead the mixture well. Transfer it to the lined bread mold. Cover completely with bacon strips. Cook in the oven for 25-40 minutes. Slice it. Garnish with parsley and serve. It takes 50 minutes to make the Spanish meatloaf.

Ingredients for Spanish Meatloaf Recipe

To make Spanish Meatloaf, you need the following ingredients:

  • Bacon = 1-¼ pounds
  • Minced beef = 1 lb
  • Tomato sauce = ¼ cup
  • Minced red bell pepper = ½ 
  • Minced tomato = 1
  • Red onion = 1, medium-sized
  • Egg = 1
  • Garlic cloves = 3
  • Minced curly parsley = 1 tbsp
  • Freshly cracked black pepper = 1 tsp
  • Salt = 2 tsp
  • Dry and ground oregano = ½ tsp

Step-by-Step Guide for Making Spanish Meatloaf Recipe

Follow this step-by-step guide to make Spanish Meatloaf:

Step 1

Heat the oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit. Take a medium-sized bread mold and spread the bacon strips in it. The strips should cover the sides and bottom of the mold. Keep 2 bacon strips to use later.

Step 2

Take the remaining bacon strips and mince them in a food processor. Then take a large bowl and add the minced bacon, minced beef, tomato sauce, onion, garlic, oregano, salt, and freshly cracked black pepper. Mix them thoroughly.

Step 3 

Then wash your hands and knead the minced meat mixture using your hands so that all the ingredients will combine completely and evenly. 

Step 4

Then add egg and again mix. Lastly, add bell pepper, parsley, and tomato to incorporate in the meat mixture.

Step 5

Transfer this beef mixture into the bread mold you previously lined with the bacon strips. Then press the mixture and make it into an elongated ball that takes up the shape of the bread mold.

Step 6

Over the meatball, place the bacon strips in such a way that they overlap with themselves and completely wrap around the meatball. 

Step 7

With an aluminum foil, cover the bread mold containing the meatball covered with bacon strips. Then bake it in the oven for about 25 minutes.

Step 8 

After 25 minutes have passed, take out the mold from the oven and remove the aluminum foil. Then place the mold again in the oven. Increase the temperature of the oven to 450 degrees Fahrenheit and cook the meatloaf again for 10 minutes. Observe when the bacon turns crispy from the edges and golden in color.

Step 9

Take out the meatloaf, and let it cool for 5 minutes. Slice it and serve it with parsley. Spanish meatloaf is ready. Bon Appetit!

Recipe Notes

  • In the place of ground beef, you can also use ground pork or you can use a 1:1 mixture of ground beef and pork.
  • Wash your hands before and after you mix the beef mixture ingredients.
  • Discard the aluminum foil after use.
