To make it, you’ll need to start with chopped meat, tomato sauce, and lasagna noodles. You’ll also need high-quality vegetables and pasta. Once you’ve got this together, you’ll need to cook them all together in hot water. Once they are cooked and ready to eat, you’ll need to bake them in the oven.
Ingredients
- Ground beef, 1 pound
- Spaghetti sauce (about 28-oz. jar), 3 cups
- Uncooked SAN GIORGIO LASAGNA (about 16 oz.), 16 pieces
- Ricotta cheese (2 pounds), 4 cups
- Shredded mozzarella cheese (divided), 2 cups -8 oz.
- Grated parmesan cheese, 1/4 cup
- 2 Eggs
- Chopped fresh parsley, 1 tablespoon
- Salt, 1 teaspoon
- Ground black pepper, 1/4 teaspoon
Step By Step Instructions To Make San Giorgio Lasagna
Step 1
Brown the meat in a large skillet; drain. Mix in the spaghetti sauce and simmer for 10 minutes. Cook the pasta according to the package instructions; drain well. Spread the pasta out flat on foil to cool.
Step 2
Preheat the oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit. Add ricotta cheese, 1-1/2 cups mozzarella cheese, parmesan cheese, eggs, parsley, salt, and pepper to a large bowl.
Step 3
Spread a little more than 1/3 cup of the meat sauce on the bottom of a 13 x 9 x 2-inch glass baking dish. Line up 4 pasta pieces lengthwise on the sauce, with edges overlapping.
Step 4
Cover pasta with one-third of the cheese mixture; then, cover with about 3/4 cup meat sauce. Layer TWICE, beginning and ending with pasta.
Step 5
Sprinkle remaining 1/2 cup mozzarella cheese and additional parmesan cheese, if desired, over remaining meat sauce. Cover tightly with foil.
Step 6
Make sure the mixture is hot and bubbly after 45 minutes. Remove the foil and bake for another 10 minutes, or until lightly browned. Remove from the oven and let cool for 10 minutes. Chill!
