Ground Cherry Pie Recipe

Ground cherry pie is a delicious dessert that is made with real cherries. This recipe can be made with any type of cherries, such as sour cherries, or ones like the regular old ones. Ground cherry pie is a favorite with everyone on holiday tables, but it’s delicious year-round.

Ingredients
  

  • 2 ½ cups Ground cherries
  • ½ cup Packed brown sugar
  • 2 tablespoons Water
  • 1 (9 inches) pie shell
  • 4 tablespoons  All-purpose flour
  • 3 tablespoons  White sugar
  • 2 tablespoons  Butter

Instructions
 

  • Achieve a temperature of 425 degrees Fahrenheit (220 degrees Celsius) in the oven.
  • Prepare a pie shell by washing ground cherries and placing them in it. Sprinkle 1 tablespoon brown sugar and flour over cherries. 
  • Drizzle water over the top. Add 3 tablespoons sugar to 3 tablespoons flour. Mix until crumbly. Garnish cherry mixture with crumbs.
  • Preheat the oven to 375 degrees F (190 degrees C) and bake for 15 minutes. Reduce temperature to 375 degrees F (190 degrees C) and bake another 25 minutes.
