Pizza Sub Recipe

Pizza Sub

I love pizza, and when I make pizza, I love to make my own. So often we see pizza on the streets of Italy, but the truth is that it’s not very healthy. The problem is that these pizzas are typically made with cheese and deep-fried, which is not very good for you. In order to avoid the problems with unhealthy pizza, I decided to build my own pizza.

Pizza Sub is one of the easiest things to make at home, right? Well, maybe it’s not just easy, but great! The world is filled with pizzas you can try at home. There are delish pizzas with amazing toppings like bacon and pizza crusts. There are pizzas you can get at your local pizzeria plus homemade pizzas you can make at home. There are even pizza recipes from pizza parties.

It’s easy to get excited about the idea of making Pizza Sub. In fact, there are probably some of us that would love having a standing night out with friends and family where we couldn’t stop the conversation. Pizza Sub is a great meal to serve at family gatherings, especially when you’re getting together with folks you don’t know very well. As a kid, I remember sitting at the kitchen table, under my mom’s guidance, making my dad and his friends come back for seconds and thirds.

How to Make a Pizza Sub

The classic Pizza Sub is easy to make with just a few ingredients. The secret to a good pizza sub is, of course, the crust. There are several out there, but a good sub, like any pizza, is always better when it’s made using whole wheat or whole grain flour.

Ingredients

  • Long sub buns, 4 (cut lengthwise)
  • Pizza sauce, 1 can (7 oz)
  • Mozzarella cheese shredded, 2 cups (or more)
  • Pepperoni, 200 g

Additional toppings:

  • Green peppers (sliced thin)
  • Mushrooms (sliced thin)
  • Olives black or green (sliced thin)
  • Ham diced
  • Bacon cooked (crumbled)

Instructions

Step 1

Set the oven to 425 degrees Fahrenheit.

Step 2

Sub buns should be cut lengthwise and arranged to cut side up on a large cookie sheet.

Step 3

Distribute the pizza sauce among the buns, spreading it evenly over each slice.

Step 4

Over the pizza sauce, sprinkle the mozzarella cheese.

Step 5

On one side of the sandwich, arrange the toppings of your choice.

Step 6

After assembling your pizzas, place them on the lower rack of the oven for about 8 to 10 minutes, or until the cheese is hot and bubbly. To serve, match up the top and bottom of your sub buns and cut them in half.
