Ingredients

  • 2 cups Pecans
  • 1 cup Sugar
  • 1 tbsp Butter
  • 1 tsp Salt
  • 1 tsp Vanilla Extract Optional

Instructions

  • Start by preheating the oven to 350°F. Grab a baking sheet and lay in a silicone mat if you have one.
  • In a medium saucepan, combine 1 cup of granulated sugar, 1/2 cup of water, 1 TBSP of Butter, and 1/2 teaspoon of salt. Heat the mixture over medium heat, stirring constantly until the sugar dissolves.
  • Once the sugar has dissolved, add in the toasted pecans and stir until they are coated evenly with the sugar mixture. Continue to cook the pecans in the saucepan, stirring frequently, until the sugar mixture thickens and becomes syrupy.
  • The final step is to bake the coated pecans to perfection. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper and spread the pecans out in a single layer. Bake them in the preheated oven for 15-20 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the sugar coating is caramelized and the pecans are golden brown.
