Raised Donuts Recipe

Raised Donuts Recipe

The raised donuts are made with traditional ingredients and are light and airy in texture. The gluten in all-purpose flour binds the dough while still giving room for air to trap. Fluffy from the inside, these donuts are dipped in a simple glaze that makes them sweet and more palatable.

Ingredients

  • 2-½ cups Flour
  • ¾ cup Warm milk
  • ¼ cup Sugar
  • 1 tbsp Yeast
  • 3 tbsp Softened butter
  • ½ tsp Salt
  • 2 tbsp Warm water
  • 1 Egg
  • 1 quart Oil for frying

For Making Glaze:

  • 4 tbsp Warm water
  • 3 cups Powdered sugar
  • ½ tsp Vanilla
  • 1 tsp Honey

Instructions

  • In a small bowl add warm water and sprinkle it with yeast powder. Let them stand for about 5 minutes.
  • Take another large size and add 1 cup of flour, salt, sugar, yeast mixture, egg, warm milk, and butter. Mix them slowly for a few minutes. When thoroughly mixed, add the remaining flour and mix until the dough formed does not stick to the bowl.
  • Knead the dough to make it elastic and smooth. Take a bowl and grease it with oil. Put the kneaded dough in this bowl. Cover the bowl and place it aside in a warm place to let it rise. Wait for an hour until the dough has risen to double the volume.
  • Flour a clean surface and take out the risen dough on it. Roll the dough to a thickness of ½ inch with the help of a rolling pin.
  • Take a donut cutter and cut the dough into as many donuts as possible. Then place them in a tray, cover them with a plastic wrap to a clean cloth, and again leave them unbothered so that they can rise to double the volume.
  • Take a large skillet or a deep fryer and add some oil to it. It should be enough to cover the donuts when they are put in. Heat the oil until it is fully hot, to about 350 degrees Fahrenheit. Take some donuts and add them to the hot oil.
  • When the donuts rise to the surface, turn their side. Fry them so that both sides are golden brown. Take them out and place them on a cooling rack. Meanwhile, use paper towels to absorb excess oil from them.
  • In a bowl mix honey, warm water, powdered sugar, and vanilla extract to make the glaze. Dunk the warm donuts in the glaze and take them out. Again put on a cooling rack to allow the excess glaze to drain off.
