Ingredients

For Meatloaf:

  • 2 lb Medium ground beef
  • 1 cup Whole milk
  • 2 Eggs
  • ¼ cup Ketchup
  • 1-½ cups Italian seasoned breadcrumbs
  • 1 packet Lipton onion soup mix

Topping and Glaze:

  • 8 strips Bacon
  • ¼ cup Ketchup
  • 1 tbsp Packed light brown sugar
  • Freshly chopped parsley for garnishing

Instructions

  • Preheat your oven to about 350 degrees Fahrenheit. Line the rimmed baking sheet with foil (aluminum foil).
  • Take a large bowl. Add eggs and beat them. Then add Lipton onion soup mix, bread crumbs, ketchup, and milk. Mix them until they are fully combined.
  • In this bowl,  add the large chunks of ground beef. Wash your hands and mix the beef with the mixture with your hands. Make sure to get them fully combined but also keep checking that you do not overmix. Just stop mixing as soon as you see that they are combined.
  • Place this mixture on the baking sheet that you previously lined with aluminum foil. Then make the loaf of the beef with your hands. It should be pressed tightly enough to keep the loaf held together while being baked. Keep in view the even thickness and height for good cooking.
  • On the longer side of the loaf, place the bacon strips (if you are using them). To prevent it from curling, tuck its ends under the loaf.
  • Take a small-sized bowl and add brown sugar to it. Then add ketchup and mix. When this glaze is ready, spoon it out and place it on the top of the meatloaf. Then spread the glaze evenly on the loaf. Also, coat the sides.
  • Bake the meatloaf for 50 minutes in the preheated oven. Then turn on the broiler to broil the glaze so that it caramelizes.
  • Take it out of the oven. Let it unbothered for 10 minutes and then cut into even slices of 1-inch thickness. Garnish with parsley and serve. Bon Appetit!
