Course Sauce
Cuisine American
- 1 1/4 cup apricot jam
- light sugar syrup or corn syrup
- 3 tablespoons apple vinegar
- 3 teaspoons cornstarch
- 1 teaspoon soy sauce
- 1 teaspoon mustard
- ½ teaspoon salt
- ¼ teaspoon garlic powder or 1 garlic clove grated
- 4 tablespoons water
Using a hand blender, blend all the ingredients for the sauce except the water until smooth.
Bring a boil to all the ingredients in the pan by adding the water. Stir often during the five minutes of simmering on medium-low heat.
To avoid the sweet and sour sauce catching, scrape the bottom of the pan while stirring. During cooking, the sauce will become darker and thicker.
Let cool completely after removing from the heat. Be sure to stir well before serving.
