⅓ cup water ½ cup orange juice ⅓ cup brown sugar 2 tablespoons pure maple syrup 2 tablespoons rice vinegar ¼ cup soy sauce 2 cloves minced garlic 1 teaspoon fresh minced ginger 1 teaspoon olive oil or other neutral oil For the Cornstarch Slurry 2 tablespoons cornstarch ¼ cup water
In a saucepan, heat 1 teaspoon of olive oil or another neutral flavored oil.
During the last 2 to 3 minutes of cooking, add the minced garlic and ginger and stir to combine. Keep stirring to avoid burning.
Stir frequently while heating ⅓ cup of water, orange juice, brown sugar, maple syrup, rice vinegar, and soy sauce for 3 minutes.
To make the slurry, whisk 2 tablespoons of cornstarch with ¼ cup of water in a small bowl.
Adding the cornstarch slurry to the sauce and whisking until thickened takes around 3 - 5 minutes.
Use the orange sauce as a sauce for stir-fried vegetables, orange chicken, orange cauliflower, or orange tofu!
