Sweet potato dumplings are made from sweet potato slices that have been blessed with the spicy flavor and aroma of cinnamon. Flaky biscuits add to the amazing texture of the dumplings while the corn-sugar sauce just melts these dumplings in your mouth.
In a 9*13 inch baking pan, add butter stick and melt the butter at 350 degrees Fahrenheit.
Take the flaky biscuits out of the can and pull the layers apart to divide each biscuit in half. Pat each side of the flaky biscuit flat.
Take the sweet potato rounds (thawed) and cut each slice in half. Then sprinkle cinnamon on them. You can also use your other favorite spices that pair well with sweet potatoes.
When you have added the spices to the halved slices of sweet potatoes, take one of the half slices and place it on the halved flaky biscuit. Then seal the edges by folding the biscuit over. It will be just like a fried pie.
Repeat the same with all the slices of sweet potatoes. Then transfer them into the baking dish containing the melted butter.
Take a saucepan and add sugar, water, and corn syrup. Mix them and boil over a medium-high flame. Keep stirring from time to time. When boiled, reduce the flame and keep boiling until the sugar dissolves and disappears. Simmer and stir.
When the syrup is ready, trickle it down around the biscuits you have lined on the baking sheet.
Bake for about 35 minutes at 350 degrees Fahrenheit. OR You can wait for the dumplings to turn golden brown. Take them out and let them cool. The sauce will thicken with time. Sweet potato dumplings are ready. Bon Appetit!
