The Instant Pot Mashed Sweet Potatoes Recipe combines the savory flavors of garlic, butter, whole milk, salt, and ground cinnamon with a wonderfully creamy patty.
3poundssweet potatoes - peeled and cut into 1-inch pieces
1cupwater
4tablespoonsunsalted butter - melted
½cupwhole milk - plus more if needed

Instructions
Using the Instant Pot trivet, a wire steaming basket, or a silicone basket, place it inside the bowl of the pot. Fill your Instant Pot with 1 cup of water.
Prepare potatoes by washing and peeling them and then chopping them into cubes approximately 1 inch in size. Sweet potatoes can be placed inside the steamer basket or on top of the trivet once they have been peeled and chopped.
Make sure the pressure valve is set to sealing and place the cover on your Instant Pot. For 10 minutes, set your Instant Pot to manual HIGH pressure.
Once the cooking time is complete, switch the pressure valve to venting and do a quick release. Take care when removing the lid.
Before the cooking time begins to count down, your Instant Pot will take about 10 to 15 minutes to heat and build pressure.
In a large colander, drain the sweet potatoes immediately.
Using your Instant Pot, mash your sweet potatoes by transferring them into the inner pot. Set the Instant Pot to WARM.
Melt the butter first and add it to the mixture. Using a potato masher, mash the potatoes until they reach the desired consistency after adding the milk, salt, and ground cinnamon. If needed, add more milk and salt to taste.
