San Giorgio Lasagna is a traditional American dish made of layers of pasta, tomatoes, and other ingredients layered with a thick tomato sauce. For the pasta layers, one might use traditional macaroni and cheese or fresh pasta.The sauce adds flavor to the layers and makes them look more appealing.

4cupsRicotta cheese (2 pounds)
2cups -8 oz.Shredded mozzarella cheese (divided)
1/4cupGrated parmesan cheese
2Eggs
1tablespoonChopped fresh parsley
1teaspoonSalt
1/4teaspoonGround black pepper
Instructions
Brown the meat in a large skillet; drain. Mix in the spaghetti sauce and simmer for 10 minutes. Cook the pasta according to the package instructions; drain well. Spread the pasta out flat on foil to cool.
Preheat the oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit. Add ricotta cheese, 1-1/2 cups mozzarella cheese, parmesan cheese, eggs, parsley, salt, and pepper to a large bowl.
Spread a little more than 1/3 cup of the meat sauce on the bottom of a 13 x 9 x 2-inch glass baking dish. Line up 4 pasta pieces lengthwise on the sauce, with edges overlapping.
Cover pasta with one-third of the cheese mixture; then, cover with about 3/4 cup meat sauce. Layer TWICE, beginning and ending with pasta.
Sprinkle remaining 1/2 cup mozzarella cheese and additional parmesan cheese, if desired, over remaining meat sauce. Cover tightly with foil.
Make sure the mixture is hot and bubbly after 45 minutes. Remove the foil and bake for another 10 minutes, or until lightly browned. Remove from the oven and let cool for 10 minutes. Chill!
